Due to adult-onset allergies, motherhood-induced lack of sleep, and long days at the computer, wearing my contacts for 16 or 17 hours a day had become almost unbearable...not to mention the hours spent cleaning them, replacing them, etc. Glasses were not a great option, either - they were constantly crooked from little hands grabbing at them, and they were inconvenient for most activities. Of course, going without anything was unthinkable; without correction, I literally could not read the alarm clock on the nightstand.
LASIK was the answer for me. Now, almost three years after the surgery, my vision is still nearly 20/ 20. Day or night, I see better now than I ever did with glasses or contacts. The most amazing aspect to me is that after more than 25 years of dealing with glasses, contacts, and so forth, I simply do not think about my vision. I wake up in the morning and go to bed at night seeing clearly and comfortably - something that hadn’t been true since I was eight years old!
